María Dolores Souza (Drs. at Leiden University, The Netherlands 1984), is Psychologist and Head of the Research Department of the Chilean Television Council, the Chilean state’s television regulator. She is Director of “Novasur”, an educational television programming that reaches 1.500 public schools in Chile. Novasur is sponsored by the Ministry of Education in Chile. She has conducted research on television since 1992 at the National Television Council, using a variety of qualitative methods (ethnographic; focus groups, children’s mini groups, and content analysis). She coordinates as well, quantitative studies. See: publications in www.cntv.cl. In 2006 had a post degree on “Emotional Education” at the University of Pedagogical Sciences in Santiago, Chile. She teaches at Diego Portales University (Chile) for masters’ degree students and published among others several books of the UNESCO Clearinghouse on Children and Media on the subject of children and TV.
