D, University of Kassel, 1998) is Head of the International Central Institute for Youth and Educational Television (IZI) at the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation and Head of the Prix Jeunesse International, as well as lecturer at the University of Kassel and at the Munich Academy of Television and Film (HFF), Germany. Her research areas are children, youth, and television, and gender reception studies. Her publications include Children in Times of War and Conflict (2007), Media and the Make-believe Worlds of Children: When Harry Potter Meets Pokemon in Disneyland, (with Lemish, Aidman, & Moon, Lawrence Erlbaum Associates, 2005); Only Soap Bubbles? The Significance of Daily Soaps for the Everyday Life of Children and Adolescents (KoPäd, 2002 in German); Girls and Television: Media Appropriation in Female Adolescence (KoPäd, 1999 in German), and many book chapters and articles in German.
