ABOUT Prof. Dr. Kara Chan (Hong Kong)

Prof. Chan is currently Professor and Public Relations and Advertising option coordinator in the Department of Communication Studies, Hong Kong Baptist University. She worked in the advertising and public relations profession and as a statistician for the Hong Kong Government before she joined the academy. She is actively involved in research on Hong Kong and China's consumer behaviour and advertising, as well as environmental studies. She recently completed a research project on advertising and children in China. Her research interests are cross cultural consumer studies, advertising strategy, advertising and children, gender portrayal in media, consumer socialization, and materialism.
